Fic: Love, Sex and Tomatoes (11.19 episode coda)
I thoroughly enjoyed episode 11.19. Really interesting, freaky MOTW and some nice character stuff. It also made me think a lot about love in all its various forms. As we all do, I have lots of head-canon around Sam and Dean and in my personal head-canon, Dean is bi-sexual. That head-canon and my contemplation about love led me to this coda...

Dean's abandonment issues never get old. To me, I mean. To Sam - probably. But he deals admirably well with it:
“You were just drinking,” Sam corrects, leaning against the door jamb. “And you come up with really stupid ideas when you try thinking after you’ve been drinking.”
You gave Sam some great lines here. :)
Also, Dean/tomatoes is one of my OTPs.
I have a lot of thoughts about your bi!Dean headcanon which mostly boil down to: I don't know what to think. Whenever I see someone on Tumblr claim that Dean is bi, it annoys me, because a) usually the person in question doesn't care in the slightest about a Dean who is attracted to both women and men, they only want him to be attracted to Cas, and because b) the reasoning behind the statement is often something offensive like "Dean eats pink cake". But then I'll come across someone else arguing that Dean is straight, and that makes me angry too, because it seems so oversimplified. Canon suggests that Dean only sleeps with women, but we seem him flirt with everyone and everything, sexualising everyone and everything. Sure, it might have been a defense mechanism originally, since he's been sexualised by other people from a very early age onwards; but it is a core character trait and it *is*, if you get what I'm saying.
Anyway, thank you for writing this lovely fic and giving me some fresh food for thought!

And I do see what you mean about some of the rabid, one-eyed stuff you sometimes see about Dean's sexuality on Tumblr. I guess I've looked at the way he flirts with (and not only flirts, which could just be a performance, but also looks at) everyone and everything and to me it just seems like he's genuinely attracted to both sexes, even though canonically he only sleeps with women, and may not even have realised until quite late in life that maybe guys were an option too. Growing up in a hyper masculine environment could have suppressed a part of his sexuality, but I like to think that nowadays he acts on his all attractions sometimes!
