I've done plenty of winter camping. Jeans and t-shirts are about the worst thing you can wear in cold weather. They have no insulating properties, and if they get damp they actually suck heat out of your body. Silk or polypropylene make the best underlayers, with wool or polar fleece over that, and something to break the wind as an outer layer.
On a budget, heavy duty sweat pants will work mych better than jeans. They're not stylish, but the only thing in style out doors is being warm.

Thanks, tonight I will try 2 layers of sweat pants instead of the jeans. Maybe get the wife to get me a Polypro t-shirt as well.

I'm testing all of this in my back yard, so I can run back inside if I get too cold.
