France and other stuff

This summer hasn't been so hot. Working nights (just about every night of the week) has been pretty crappy, as I don't end up sleeping until 4-5 in the morning and I usually don't end up waking until 12-2 in the afternoon. In the end, I'm pretty much out of contact with everyone who has a daytime job except for the couple of times when I'm not ( Read more... )

Is this car for France or for the US? If France then I would say don't even bother with a car, get a scooter or a motorcycle.

If the US, then yes there are plenty of options. But what's your definition of "Fuel-efficient"? I can make you a good list of cars if I know what your required specs are.

US, not France. I'll either take the Metro or cab in Paris, bus in Montpellier.

As for fuel-efficiency, I'd like at least 30 mi/gallon (the more the merrier) as an average for highway and city driving. Also, if it were big enough for me to fit in, that would be wonderful too. If I weren't so tall and had enough money for it, I'd be all over a Smartcar.

You don't want a Smart car. BELIEVE ME. They're mileage isn't that good at all and there's basically no way to get it serviced in America if you have an accident and it wasn't totaled.

Gimmie a little bit, I'll come up with a good list and post another comment with it. Might even include a few ads if I can find any good deals for you.

Alrighty, what you need is a nice compact mid 90's/early 2000's Japanese car. There are a few American cars out there that will work too, but I would stay away from the European ones. The only thing that fits the bill are small VW's, and they're notoriously unreliable. You want a car that will run forever on regular oil changes ( ... )
