France and other stuff

This summer hasn't been so hot. Working nights (just about every night of the week) has been pretty crappy, as I don't end up sleeping until 4-5 in the morning and I usually don't end up waking until 12-2 in the afternoon. In the end, I'm pretty much out of contact with everyone who has a daytime job except for the couple of times when I'm not working. Also, all the goals I did have for this summer are, well, kind of not being reached. Maybe after France.

Speaking of which, I'm leaving next Thursday (the 26th). I don't think I'm really prepared for this. Well, certainly not prepared for the research project. I think I'll be fine concerning working in a foreign country and traveling by myself in Paris for 5 nights. The working actually takes place in Montpellier, the sister city of Louisville, which is pretty much right on the Mediterranean. It'll be sweet. I got an e-mail from who(m?) I presume is my host family, which is, judging by the wording in the e-mail, an unmarried couple. (je vis avec MON AMI--I live with my friend) Who knows, maybe they decided marriage was too expensive and so are doing a PACS civil union type thing (IMO what we should institute over here). Or who knows, maybe it's like the living arrangements of Chloe in "Quelqu'un cherche son chat" where she lives with a gay guy (or vice versa).

About recording how things happen in France, I dunno what I'll do about that. I might blog or something, either here or on facebook. Facebook does have better photo options, from what I've seen, and I'm connected to more people there, so I'm guessing it'll happen there. At the very least I'll put a link here.

Also, I need a fuel-efficient car within with a price ceiling (self-imposed, no govt here) of $4000. Is that possible anymore?
