Driving and French and Writing and Moving, oh my!

I WENT DRIVING. ON THE BIG ROAD. Score! I drove all the way to my brother's house and back, through major intersections and everything. I'm very proud of myself, haa. Still a little bit nervous because good gods I hate fast busy streets, but I'm getting better at this whole thing, and I haven't crashed into anything yet! (And hopefully that won't ( Read more... )

Wait, so you're practicing driving before having driving lessons?

Not crashing is good! \o/ lol actually, I prefer driving on big roads. Residential roads have bumps, people/children/dogs crossing without looking, cars parked at the side and backing out onto the road without looking, cars coming out of side lanes without looking.... but my biggest enemy on the road is motorcycles, they make me so jumpy.

Anyway, you can do it! Driving on big roads and all.

Learning a language is probably easier if you also use it outside of learning materials, like if you listen to music or read or watch stuff in that language. Even if you don't understand it, you'll get used to the sound and shape of the words. And of course it's easier to do that if the language appeals to you in the first place.

Yes. One has to pay for formal driving lessons... but one can also learn it from other people (usually parents). So my parents are starting me out, but then I'll take proper lessons later.

Re: language -- yes, I figured that. It's why I'm kind of leaning toward Finnish out of those three, because it's the kind that I see/hear more frequently. On the other hand, fuck, it'd be hard. I DUNNO

HURRAH DRIVING AND ORIGINAL WRITING \o/ i'm glad to hear it!!

you and french kinda sounds like me and chinese haha, i mean i knew i should learn it because of china's ~*rise to power*~ and all but i just hated learning it at school (because of the way it was presented) and disinterest --> not taking anything in.
LEARN FINNISH i've heard that after getting through finnish, learning indo-european languages seems easier (logic? idek) but i kinda want to learn 1000 languages so advice, i have none. maybe you could start with swedish since it'd be quicker to pick up??

and you've probably left already but good luck with the move, good golly 12 hours is a rather long drive. empty country streets are good for practice though, so i hope you did! especially now that you've been on ~main roads~ and all that jazz

HERE, HAVE A LATE REPLY

Urgh, yes. I feel I should know French because blah blah second national language and I did take it for several years so I know a little but... gods damn, I hated learning it in school, and as a language, I do not like it (it doesn't sound pleasant to my ears).
MAYBE I WILL Yeah, it's like... I DUNNO. Finnish is asdfjdf and I encounter it more often than the others, but Swedish would be easiest, and... I dunno. I have some program resources that I can fiddle with before I reallly decide, so I might poke around and see if I take to one language more easily.

12 hours is long and awful. urgh. I do not recommend it.
