Chapter 2
Pain shot through Jaejoong’s spine as he opened his eyes, only to close them again when a bright light nearly burned his eyes out of their sockets.
He sat up and tried to adjust to the light by blinking repeatedly. “What..”
“Hey, kid. Are you okay?”
The angel finally got up and turned around. His vision was a bit blurry, but he could clearly see the man in front of him. He looked around and noticed smiling children running around, tugging on their parents’ sleeves.
‘What is this place?’
“Yah, kid. Are you okay?”
Jaejoong smiled at the man, immediately frowning when he didn’t smile back. “Uh.. yeah, I’m fine.”
The man shrugged and turned to leave.
“Wait!” the fallen angel yelled. “C-Can you tell me where I am?”
The man raised an eyebrow and sighed. “You’re currently standing in a sandbox, if you hadn’t already noticed. You’re at Seoul Kindergarten Center, and if you don’t mind me saying, since you’re obviously too young to have a child here, you do come across as a pedophile.”
Jaejoong pouted and crossed his arms, stepping out of the sandbox and on to the soft grass. “It’s nice to meet you too, and if you don’t mind me saying, you’re an ass.”
“Preaching to the choir, pedo.”
The angel gasped and frowned. “Yah!”
The man’s lips curved into a smirk as he turned around, and that’s when the angel noticed the little boy behind him.
“I-Is that your son? You don’t look old enough to have a kid his age.”
“It’s my nephew and I-wait, why am I telling you this? I don’t even know you.”
Jaejoong followed the man to his car and tapped him on the shoulder to make him turn around. “Kim Jaejoong.”
“Uh.. Jung Yunho,” the man responded, glancing at Jaejoong for a moment before he told the little boy to get in the car.
“Jung.. Yunho?”
“Yes? Why?”
The angel frowned. ‘This is the guy I have to help. Just how do I do that when he already hates me?’
“Nothing.. I just.. thought it sounded familiar.”
Yunho shrugged and leaned against the side of his car. “Well, you might have seen me at the hospital? I'm a cardiac surgeon.”
‘So, he works all day with mending people’s hearts, but still he cannot mend his own?’ Jaejoong’s felt his heart drop at that thought. He touched his back and sighed.
“O-Oh.. maybe.”
“Well.. if you don’t mind, I’ll be leaving now.”
“Okay. Well.. it was nice meeting you,” the angel said. “I guess,” he then added, drawing a wide smile from the other man. Jaejoong touched his back again.
“Sorry about that. I do tell people to look past the first impression I give off. Before I leave, do you mind me asking why you’re here in the first place?”
‘Yes, I do mind.’ “Uh.. I… drunken night out?”
“Oh!” Yunho seemed to recognize those. “I knew you weren’t old enough for a kid. How old are you?”
“Thousan-” the angel mentally kicked himself. “Thous-th-twenty.. two. Twenty two.”
“And still a little bit drunk, I see. I’m 27, so I’m not that much older,” Yunho pointed out.
“Ah.. I see.”
Yunho cocked his head to the right. “You keep touching your back. Is everything okay?”
‘No, my wings have been ripped off and you have no idea how painful it was.’ “Yeah, everything is fine.”
“If you fell and hurt yourself at some point during the night, I can take a look at it. If you like, that is.”
“Oh, no, I don’t want to be a burden.”
Yunho smiled, though the angel could see it was forced. “Come on, just let me take a look. I can see you’re in pain.”
“Okay.. thank you.” Jaejoong slipped his shirt over his head and turned around, gasping when he felt Yunho’s cold fingers on his skin.
“Oops, sorry,” the "older" man whispered as he ran his hands over the angel’s back, stopping as he touched his shoulder blades. “That’s a beautiful tattoo you’ve got.”
“Tattoo?”
“Yes, the wings. They’re beautiful.”
Jaejoong smiled. Apparently, Junsu didn’t rip all of the angel out of him. “Thank you.”
“Well, your back seems okay to me. If you experience any more pain, go to the hospital and get an x-ray, okay?”
With his shirt still in his hands, the angel turned around and smiled at the now blushing man in front of him. “I will. Thank you, once again. I appreciate it. Well, I’ll see you around.”
Yunho smiled and got in his car.
Jaejoong turned around and noticed a few girls passing by. He flexed his muscles and smirked at them.
Somewhere in heaven, Junsu facepalmed himself.
