Summer Splash! - Lyrics and Translation

Aug 01, 2010 00:21

Summery and sweet. Shy boys going to the beach, working up the courage to change and shine.

(This is the last one I spam you with for today folks, I promise!  Jeez, I'm on translation overdrive. . . apparently the "M" in my name comes from DoM. . .  ^^ ;;;)

Thank you to arashi_no_jidai  for uploading the album and lyrics.

Thanks for translating this!

I'll write you the Arashi fantasy party I came out with when I first heard this (as I mentioned to glos at anj): Party at the beach. Someone preparing barbecue. People running around, others playing with a beach ball. When night comes, everyone transfers to the nearby roller skate/bowling disco. There are multicolored disco lights and a disco ball.

I love it! I can see the boys partying at the beach. . . kinda like the aozora PV, but more high tension, and set on the beach. :)

(LOL, don't let aiba near the bowling ball though. . . we don't need another Bank Bowling fail)

I sometimes find it so funny that a lot of younger fans could not relate to this disco fantasy of mine or when I comment about remembering my aunt or parents playing disco records on a turntable when I was little. They most probably were wondering what a real record actually looks like. I suddenly feel so old sometimes. Especially when I like a lot of the songs in the new album because they had jazz influences, or 80s pop influences, 70s disco and pop influences, etc. And a lot of the fans were going "so un-Arashi"!

AH, albums, how natsukashii! I remember my mother's stack of albums in her closet. . . unfortunately, they've gone the way of the eight track and the mix tape though *sigh* (And I will forever love Sho for paying homage to the mix tape in Hip Pop Boogie).

I'm enjoying the different influences from various genres too, which may be why I love the How's album so much. LOL, I wonder what the heck an "Arashi-like" song is supposed to sound like? They're all over the place, stylistically speaking. I don't think I'd enjoy their music half as much if they're songs weren't so varied. There's always a song to fit my mood. :)

You are back! I love your translations the best...so I'm looking forward to it!!
How come LJ is so fast?!? I'm away for about 24 hours and the whole thing is already there? nice surprise but woah, I'm a bit overwhelmed now...O_O

this song has so much summer to it!
but, did I understand it right? is the person speaking trying to overcome a love by enjoying this summer as much as he can?! and at the same time using the good and beautiful memories of this love to be himself and to give it all in this summer?

hmm, it's not so much about trying to overcome love, but trying to overcome shyness so one can find love. The stanza:

Soft, long hair turning back to look (at me) And my senses and time come to a halt
Every time she looks back, I return back to my old self aa. . . I keep doing that

What I see in my head is a boy walking down the beach and passing a pretty girl with long hair. She turns around to look at him (she's interested ^_^ in him), and he wants to react, but his shy self takes over and ends up not doing anything. Then he gets frustrated w/ himself for being that way: "aa. . . I keep doing that"
