How to Nominate!

  1. Decide on what to nominate! (The best/hardest step of all.) By nominating fandoms you ensure they will be available to offer and request in Yuletide this year. You can nominate up to 3 fandoms with a maximum of 4 characters each.

Are we still doing the thing where if you nominate, say, an album, or someone's artwork, you put specific songs/works of art as the characters? (I'm planning to nominate these Schusev State Museum of Architecture ads, and obviously there aren't any characters, so I'm planning to put Saint Basil's cathedral, the Bolshoi Theater, and Lomonosov Moscow State University as the characters. Checking to make sure this is the Right Way to Do!)

Possibly! Could you describe the ads a little more, please?

They're drawings. Each one shows an imaginary underground extension of a famous Russian building -- so, like, the Bolshoi Theater one shows several more floors, more statuary, a staircase, and a bunch of rubble. Saint Basil's Cathedral is shown with a massive underground addition that almost looks like it's underwater, with lots of towers and staircases and such. The ad campaign is called "Discover the Full Story."

Thank you!

Then sure, buildings as characters (or Building (Fictional), or whatever) would make sense.

If you are nominating an ebook, do you just type in the title or do you put "TITLE" by "AUTHOR"?

Ebooks would generally be formatted the same way as books, so:

Title - Author

The Yuletide Book - Lily Castleton :P

What do you do about characters when the work has no characters? I'd like to nominate Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains", but the only thing close to a "character" actually in the story is the house computer. Would that be a character? If I want to include prompts for person(s) who inhabit/visit the house either before or after the story's setting, would Original Character(s) be a character? Or do I just leave the characters fields blank?

I'd suggest leaving the character fields blank.

The first is likely to be okay. If it suddenly turned into a huge category, we might ask people to consider ways of splitting it after nominations.

This year I want to nominate something a little oddball--TV Tropes (Anthropomorphic), with characters like Stuck in an Elevator, etc. Do I put that under Fandom (Anthropomorphic)? Do I create a whole new fandom for it? Please advise. Thanks!

Curious!

I think TV Tropes (Anthropomorphic) would be more helpfully descriptive than Fandom (Anthropomorphic).

Thanks! I certainly want to be helpfully descriptive! :-)
