Hmmm, I have no horse in this race, but the "no letters from the first letters post will be indexed on the current spreadsheet" seems a bit harsh. What if there are newbies who don't do LJ, happened to catch/be linked to the first letters post, went away happy that they'd successfully navigated LJ, and never realized there was another letter post coming? I'd hate for them to miss out on the master spreadsheet.

(I just remember being a newbie last year, and how confusing it was at first. Especially since I didn't do LJ until then.)

I agree. Considering how many letters there were last year, it can't be that hard to incorporate ~85 more into the spreadsheet.

+1 I'm about to email you to volunteer, and I'd certainly be willing to bring over the letters from the first post/spreadsheet (or see if the spreadsheeter wants to merge/help?)!

Yeah, that seems bizarre. Why make people post twice? All the info is already there, in the same format, even.
