Welcome back to Yuletide

Sep 08, 2015 21:15

Welcome back to Yuletide! We are excited for this year’s challenge and hope you are too.

2015 Schedule

  • We will put up this year’s rules for eligibility soon.
  • We will put up a post for eligibility evidence on 24 September.
  • Nominations open: 25 September.
  • Nominations close: 3 October at 9am UTC - check what that is in your time zone.
  • If you need to submit evidence for your fandom, please do this before nominations close.
  • Tag sorting and vetting: 3 October to 17 October, inclusive. It will include requests from the mods to clarify confusing or obscure nominations. Please keep an eye on the admin comm.
  • Letters Post: between 16 and 18 October.
  • Sign-ups begin: 18 October.
  • Sign-ups close: 27 October at 9am UTC - check what that is in your time zone (note: some regions have Daylight Savings change-overs in the previous weekend).
  • Matching will then run. How long it takes depends on various factors, including whether there are any writers with no possible recipients (who would need to be contacted before assignments can be generated).
  • Assignments go out: by 1 November.
  • Deadline for defaulting without penalty: 13 December at 9am UTC - check what that is in your time zone.
  • Assignment posting deadline: 20 December at 9am UTC - check what that is in your time zone.
  • The main collection goes live: December 25.
  • The Madness collection goes live: December 26.
  • Authors revealed: January 1.

The deadlines are at 9am UTC, after feedback last year, to balance various factors. For Americans, remember this means they are effectively the end of the day before for you - so long as your story is posted on the 19th December you'll know it was in on time.

Tagmods and Assistant Mods

We've been working over the last year on splitting out the work of running this exchange to make sure things can be done in efficiently and in a timely manner. In the past, the people helping the mods have all been called tagmods, as the initial work done was sorting nominations (ie tags). As the roles have expanded, we are splitting this for clarity. ”Tagmods” will refer to people helping sort the nominations; volunteers helping with other aspects will be referred to as “Assistant Mods” (the help includes answering questions here, dealing with emails, organising pinch hits, and record-keeping).

We are very grateful to these people for all the help without which Yuletide would not be possible. Please remember that the mods make the final decisions on rules and issues.

If you have a question about Yuletide, please email yuletideadmin@gmail.com or raise it on an appropriate DW or LJ admin post. Other channels will not be considered (including Private Messaging) - this is important as it makes sure your message does not get lost and anything that needs to be is recorded correctly.

Not all questions may be answered in the order you post them to us - complicated questions often take longer to answer properly (for example if they need internal discussion or fact checking) than simple ones or squeeing. Please be patient.
