2 Noms Rule

By popular request, we are dropping the rule that fandoms would need to be nominated twice. As the number of fandoms would still be a concern, we are considering ways to tighten the eligibility rules on less rare fandoms, and are considering the number of nominations people will get.

"- All Media Types" etc

For fandoms "- All Media Types", "& Related Fandoms" and " - Ambiguous Fandom" tags are ineligible. For these you can nominate any specific verison and it will be considered on its own merits. If there is not a canonical tag for that fandom version on AO3, you will have to type the full name in yourself.

The reason for this is partly to make it easier for people to understand the fandom list and also so they have more confidence in offering fandoms if they don't know all the versions.

Characters limits

This rule is designed to try and help prevent issues of people trying to request more popular fandoms (or popular versions of characters) by the back door. We would only be removing a whole fandom based on it if all the main characters of that fandom were ineligible. We will be lenient about deciding who the main character is in the fandom (for example: Joan Watson (who costars with Sherlock Holmes in Elementary) and Kate Bishop (who shares the title role with Clint Barton in Hawkeye)).

For any fandom that is ruled eligible and has less that 50 stories total posted to AO3 we are prepared to let through characters that would otherwise be ineligible (for example A Study In Emerald would be eligible to have Holmes and Watson as characters).

One set of fandoms that kept being asked about was Arthurian: for those we'd ask that nominater use the correct character names for the version in question.

For comics fandoms, name the specific comic series - the more specific you are, the more likely it will have less than 50 stories in the archive.

ETA: Just to note that Once Upon A Time uses different character tags so these won't be used when looking at the eligibility of fairy tale characters ( for example: Rumplestiltskin | Mr. Gold(the Once Upon a Time version)  is just barely over 2000 uses, Rumpelstilzchen | Rumpelstiltskin (the traditional fairy tale character) has 2)
