Yeah. I know we just did an essay, but you're all far behind because of all the random events this school has been pulling..

This time we're doing Water based creatures...

First - Third Years: Grindylow. One foot.
Fourth - Fifth Years: Sea Serpent. One and half foot.
Sixth - Seventh Years: Choose your own. Two feet ( Read more... )

...My god, I now have students with three separate assignments. DXMaka explained exactly WHAT a Grindylow is, where it's from, what danger it presents to people, how you stop them from drowning you and a bit about the exceedingly random fact that merpeople keep them for pets. It goes a little over a foot and reads a bit like an encyclopedia article, but it gets the job done ( ... )

Sakura: Writing is a bit on the large side, but did her best! Basic facts on the Grindylow, and a few stories she found in the textbooks that interested her. Fairly immature writing style: 'They're kinda scary, too, and I don't really think I'd wanna meet one by myself. Some people say they eat kids!'

Heimdall: Precisely 18 inches. Basic facts, covers the major points, but writing is kinda scrawled and rushed. Hands it in at the last minute.

Ami: Overachiever again -- 2 feet of small script in a precise hand. Ami really enjoyed this assignment and it shows. Covered all salient facts and went on to outline several myths and legends and possible basis for these legends.

Misa did her's on Sirens, and it's actually pretty well-written. It's just barely two feet, but it's detailed and has its facts straight, and includes some of the more interesting legends about the creatures.

Renge did her's on the merpeople, and although it's a good paper and over the required length... she went into a little too much detail on their mating habits and the possibility that they could reproduce like seahorses and wind up with 'm-preg'.

Tamaki: His essay was on the Loch Ness Monster. It was a little over 2 feet (since he got a little carried away), and included all the Muggle legends on top of the actual story behind it. The paper was wonderfully written, and had a great sense of detail and effort. But... it smelled only of dandelions and roses.

Rikku: Surprisingly, Rikku's essay was actually really good. It was exactly two feet, and very well written (probably because Auron was helping her write the entire essay). It was on the Giant Squid that lived in the lake, and had a few quotes from people who 'claimed' to have encountered it. She even drew a little doodle of it on the last page. (Though it really sucked... and probably looked like a lightbulb or a ham.)
