No news here.  scholar is settled in for the summer, though he hasn't unpacked yet.  Even though i emptied out an ENTIRE dresser just for him ;)

He HAS however gotten very comfy in the kitchen, which i highly approve of, and has created two insanely good meals thus far.  It is much cheaper for me to have cereal for lunch every day, but leftovers ( Read more... )

Prince Caspian was very pretty.

There was much fighting, which was generally done quite well, I thought. Some of the tactics in the battle seemed ... silly. Who sends the cavalry in by itself when you have ranged weapons that can hit the enemy from a distance?

I enjoyed the whole movie, but in the end it was a bit like cotton candy -- tasty, but not filling. What did you like?

I think i was a biggest fan of the character development. Specifically Susan, Peter, and Caspian. No, it wasn't the most in depth acting or development in the world, but it was good and i had a lot of empathy for all three of them. Peter and Susan, in particular, for the whole "we used to be adults but now we're kids again" hit me in an oddly deep way.

Also, i recently read Neil Gaiman's The Problem With Susan, so i've had her and her situation on the brain for a while. I can't get that story out of my head, and it was in the front of my brain for a lot of her scenes.

And then when there wasn't Deep Stuff going on i could just watch the pretty pretty Centaur King dude ;)

Will I like Prince Caspian if I thought the first Narnia movie was "meh" at best?

Will I once again spend the entire movie waiting for the lion to yell, "Anakin, drop!" ? :P

It was certainly better than the first one, but it wasn't true to the book; even less so than the first one.

If that sort of movie isn't your thing, don't force yourself. Wait for video. I loved it, but i must have read those books a dozen times growing up. That sure helps me get in the characters' heads and therefore enjoy the movie much more than just as a pretty action flick.

I think we "met in person" at the GenCon rpgnet gathering last year. I'm Bobaloo on rpgnet. I was the bearded guy in a black t-shirt. :)

:killinme:

I hope that's sarcasm!

Anyway, i apologise for leaving you off the list. I was on the fence, honestly, about whether i'd met you there but.....well....there were at LEAST two other bearded guys in black tshirts, so i was worried i was confusing you with someone else ;)

Yeah, I was unsure, too, so I went back and looked at the pictures. The black shirt and beard was definitely a joke. :D

I'm a cerealphile too, so I understand the attraction to boxed food which never goes bad. The milk, on the other hand, seems to cause me no end of grief. I once put OJ on my Wheaties because we had no milk. I don't recommend following my lead. ;)
