2006 State of the Union Address and the Democrat response

Jan 31, 2006 21:26

I don't actually expect anyone to read this (for various reasons) but if you do, just leave a comment saying you did. It is nice to know when people read what I think from time to time.I just finished listening to the president's State of the Union address on the radio. While I missed the first few minutes (at least), I feel that this speech was ( Read more... )

I always find the applauses amusing because there's always someone in the audience who's still sitting and has some kind of pissed off look on their faces. Really, I find the audience more interesting than the speech.

However, I did not get to watch the State of the Union address due to RHA and other things so alas...i didn't get to see this year's State of the Audience =)

They can be but I was listening to the speech on the radio, so I didn't have that benefit.

^__^ Too true. That is the one fun thing about watching them on TV (alas, I had forgotten about the speech and by chance-or not- hit the wrong button on my radio and switched it to a station they were broadcasting it. I couldn't stop listening.)

The Democrats, on the whole, have trouble with the concept of profit going to stockholders & stockholders not all being rich. This is why their basically communist minds have issues with profit...

Oh, really...? That's odd considering how many of them are quite wealthy (actually, a lot of politicians are wealthy, they just seem hypocritical about it). I also happen to know, that some Democrats in Congress intentionally held up policies and bills only because they were submitted by Republicans. That is clearly an example of people not wanting to change things. Attitudes like that are responsible for centuries of fighting a hatred in the Middle East (and other places). They will only change when the people invovled decide they want to change. (It's not like I've thought about this or anything. ^_~)

Off topic, did I ever mention that I have a friend who adores you icons? She's a big VoH fan and loves Vocal.

Yeah. They are, as you said, hypocritical -- my problem with the liberals is that they're the more hypocritical group. (Incidentally, you might enjoy the The Proceedings of the Friesian School -- it includes some pretty interesting articles.)

No, you hadn't... ::is a big fan of Vocal herself::

She even snitched one of your Vocal icons. She's on my f-list, ceramic_chicken. Drop a line in one her and talk VoH. She'd love to talk to another fan.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out after my internet is working properly. We have some mean thunderstorms rolling in and are under a Tornado Watch.

I read the above and all. Haven't listened to the SOTU, nor would have wanted to... I was wondering, though (and I know it's a completely different topic, but)... How's college treatin' you and all?

Hey, that's why I listened to it, so other people don't have to. The speech was a better written on than last year's.

Well, I graduated last May but because I have almost no clue what I want to do, I'm taking classes at the community college. For the most part, the classes are okay. Oddly enough, I've been enjoying my conversational Spanish class. I started out in an accounting class but had to drop it because I knew it was going to be one of those classes that was not worth what I was paying for it. The business and macroeconomic classes are okay. I am considering taking a business writing class but I gotta visit the place its held first (its different than the college) and see if it is feasible.
