Poem: "Autumn's Palette"

Nov 16, 2020 20:52

This was the linkback poem for the November 3, 2020 Poetry Fishbowl, originally hosted by Dreamwidth user Dialecticdreamer.

"Autumn's Palette"

Scarlet maples
burn down the season.

Serviceberries lift
their orange leaves.

Aspens run in rivers
of gold down the slopes.

Pines wear their green coats
against the coming cold.

Blue spruces hug
the mountains like fog.

In spring, wildflowers sprout
from bulbs between the roots.

Sweetgums don
mantles of royal purple.

Autumn paints with
a full palette.

Notes:

Serviceberry turns orange in autumn, among other colors.
