"Squiggles: Excerpts from Nleimen's Journal" is serial fiction set in the science fantasy shared world on Torn World. (If you're new to this setting, I recommend that you start here.) Nleimen is a young girl in the Southern Empire. At the beginning of the story, she is six years old and just beginning school in First Form, for which she starts to keep a journal. She writes about her pet mice and how they spark her interest in science.
You can read Nleimen's character sheet in the Torn World website, or see artwork of Nleimen. However, the character sheet describes her as a young adult, so if you don't want spoilers then you should wait until the end of the story to view that.
"Squiggles" is completely written and approved by the Canon Board. It will be posted one episode at a time on Mondays and Wednesdays until complete. Later it will be bundled into larger sections and reprinted on the main Torn World website in the Fiction section. The current word count is 13,800 and there are 99 episodes.
This project is crowdfunded. It runs on feedback and donations. If you enjoy the story, please comment. If there are particular characters, cultural tidbits, or other things you would like to know more about, let me know. I'm open to the idea of writing new scenes or other extras if this project brings in donations. Currently this is a "pay what you want" project; it does not yet have specific goals or perks.
