SPN 2010 Recs - Art and Vids
I love the developments that have been taking place, increasingly tying art and fics together. They both add so much to one another. And on the vid side it seems like tech and editing wise, vidders just keep getting more and more skilled in storytelling.
GRAPHICS
Last Outpost of All That Is by dauntdraws, an illustration of the story that definitely seems like a frozen moment between Sam and Dean. Fairly worksafe.
Song Remains the Same icons by awakencordy. Beautiful color and clarity in this set.
World Domination by angail. Great wallpaper, with drama and color.
Laundry Day by petite_madame. Choosing a favorite of petite_madame's this year is a tough challenge because it's just one amazing piece after another. But this image said so much about the show, particularly this year, for me. Don't let the title fool you, this is not schmoop, but heroic, fun, and frankly, the Sam and Dean the entire fandom fell for.
On the other hand, if you want to see what fandom made of the Sam and Dean we were given, then just check out Isn't it Bromantic. The link is worksafe, but if you click to get the full image, it's not. I think both the appeal and the quality of this work speaks for itself.
Supernopoly by reveria. The Winchester monopoly version - you will want this even if you've always hated Monopoly. (Side note: Why can no one at WB get a clue and realize what an awesome property SPN is for games -- video games, board games, whatever?)
The Road So Far by o_tsuki_o One thing I love about this is the feeling of peace and calm in the picture - so very unlike what Sam and Dean usually get to have.
Stained Glass SPN by nami86 - Just made of whoa (be sure to enlarge for full details).
Supernatural Comic by glockgal. Entertaining and good commentary all at once.
King of Swords Tarot Card by Tripoli. A striking image with some great commentary on what led to her choice.
Dean/Castiel by artmetica. Loved the tone and expressions in this. Very purty.
VIDS
Behind Blue Eyes by ash48. As familiar as I am with the song it surprises me how I could have missed that this seemed written for Sam. And I thought Ash's vid notes added a lot to the vid as well. There have been a number of great Sam vids made in SPN fandom, but I suspect I'll never be able to hear this song again without thinking of him.
God's Country by astartexx. There were various good vids out about Jo and Ellen this year, many of which were on the sad side considering their end. One thing I quite liked about this vid was the feisty tone it gave to Jo and the lighter touch. We miss you, Harvelles.
100th Episode Compilation by MottoVeiloPVIII. Fast, comprehensive, wonderfully edited, and I loved the final clip. Nifty series tribute.
We Cannot Save Them All by lucasdz88 - A poignant look back at some of the people Sam and Dean were too late to save or whose deaths they caused, with a nod to how that adds up for them.
