She's not rejoining the team anytime soon anyways. She's going to be with the Initiative during Secret Invasion.
Damn it Cassie. Wasn't she just recruiting for the other side? She was telling him he was wrong to go against them, being misguided, telling him the Initiative was great, that if he gave up any knowledge he had on the Anti-reg side, betraying the Young and New Avengers, and joined up he could make a 50-state team in a few weeks?
And now she's bitching Vision out, saying they were wrong to get go get help when Teddy's life was in danger? The Avengers weren't there, and Teddy could have been dying. It was the freaking Super-Skrull and he'd already killed Teddy's mom.
Damn it Cornell, your Cassie-voice sucks. She has some good points, but the Young Avengers aren't psycho amateur vigilantes, if they were they would have died a long time ago. Her saying that is just so... I want to smack some sense into her.
I agree, this sounds nothing like Cassie. She was probably more excited to be a Young Avenger than anyone else, and it seemed like she only joined the Initiative to stay out of jail and because of Tony Stark... Maybe Secret Invasion will somehow convince her to change her mind? or maybe Cassie is a skrull (just grasping at straws on that one)?
I'm wondering exactly what would bring them back together, at this point. Cassie is talking about the YAers like she was never apart of them. The bloggers who like you call us evil! WTF.
But again, I'm kind of thinking they'll just skim over all of the problems they've created for YA.
I don't think he knows she's 14 either. (Unless Initiative members get special driving privileges.) I always assumed Vision knew and said Tommy was being tortured and that got lost in the compression of those last few issues, because otherwise breaking him out of jail IS really random. But you're right that I'm assuming that.
Vision, again, was awesome. And it's nice to see Cassie using her self defense training and doing hand-to-hand, even though the writer probably thinks the Initiative taught her that.
That's clearly the answer for this. Cassie's been brainwashed. Hey, the Pro-Regs have already proven that they're willing to go far beyond that -- ie, Clor.
Am I the only one who thinks that Cassie has a good point? They went in not knowing that the institution was evil and broke Speed out anyway. Just because it all worked out in the end does not change the legality of their action.
They got lucky. Very lucky. And yet, that narrative luck is used to justicfy their actions.
I personally assumed that Vision suggested Speed because he knew what was going on, and told the others during the trip. It's not like there wasn't a long list of other choices. Possibly Speed was just the closest. But they just don't approach him in a way that suggests they thought he was honestly convicted and being properly punished. But that's my fanwank.
Unfortunately, those issues got compressed so there's no explanation for anything--why they chose Speed, whether he blew up his school on purpose, why he chose to join, etc.
