I know what my son would say if I ever proposed such a thing. "Why can't I bring my wife? She's family too, don'cha know!" Or something just as inane. Really, after all those years I spent slaving away for his benefit! What about coupons for lessons in respect and humility?

I can't think of anything comparable to offer you. I do have coupons for coffee and chocolate, if that helps? Some people find them cheering.

Oh, I do try, but it's hard when my son turns out such an ungrateful whippersnapper, after everything I've done for him. Honestly, he should be grateful I didn't pawn him off when he was a rampaging little toddler.
