Oh yeah, I got a new computer at work. It's black, shiny, and actually quite impressive. I took a peek at the video card inside it and damn is it huge. o_O If you could imagine taking four slices of toast, arranged them into two stacks of two, and then pushed the stacks together, that's about the size of this video card. It would not surprise me to ( Read more... )

DSII + Broken World had some awesome music. As much as I love the GW music, that was mostly by association with the people I met whilst playing the game. DSII, on the other hand, was just awesome in and of itself, and the music fit it SO well. :)

I'd have to say that were it not for the hours upon hours of listening to GW music, it probably wouldn't appeal to me quite as much as it does. :3

I've never actually played DSII, but I'll take your word for it. :D

I get the feeling that this guy reckons Jurassic Park is better than Secret Of Mana. Yeah... nah

After watching it again, I noticed he's similarly inclined against Zelda and a few other absolute fucking classics, and towards Blackthorne, Stargate I think it was or some other shitty SF thing, and like 4 other side-on American-made action/shoot/platformers...

I think he's just the ULTIMATE American early 90s gaming n00b. Not surprising given what his audience probably was. Fuckers.

The cheating thing too, I was more worried when he's supposedly some form of pro game guy and said shit like "You CAN 't finish this without cheats" than that they make it easy. 0_o;;

Meanwhile, this whole retro thing we seem to be on all over again has got me making a list, will put it up in a second, I'm quite looking forward to working through it... ^^

Maybe the guy just had ADHD and didn't have the patience to finish anything without cheating. But yah, he really started to get annoying. >_>

Pssht, I disagree. There's a lot of good, memorable music around. Apart from Nobuo Uematsu, I love Jeremy Soule's works... 99% of what he makes fits in with the game world. I also liked Dreamfall's music (Leon Willet arranged it). Granado Espada, aka Sword of the New World, has some catchy tunes. Soul Calibur 3 as well. I also enjoyed some of UT2k4's tracks, so much so that I converted them from .ogg format to .wma format in the most roundabout and convoluted way possible. >_>

I do agree that people go on and on about bloom and all that new fangled crap... I want my gameplay and immersion back, damnit.

Like I said in an earlier comment, Jeremy Soule's work in Guild Wars probably wouldn't have appealed to me very much if I hadn't listened to it so much. Although, I truly have to agree that it does fit the game world nicely.

I haven't played any of those games that you've mentioned, but I'm sure their music is fairly nice too. :3

I dunno, maybe I'm just old school. It's just that I really dig music like that from Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, or even Street Fighter 2. Classics. :3 d

And yah, Nobuo doesn't count when it comes to game music. That guy is like in a league of his own. :P
