The first book in this series is the book that made me realize that I could actually enjoy reading. That was a huge suprise for me at the time, so it has a special place in my heart.

The first one is The Eye of the World. This one and the second one are really good, excellent even. The third one is pretty good too but after that they start a slow decine in my opinion. It just gets to be way too long and you just want to find out how it ends. We're on our way now though, so I'm happy.

The Wheel of Time series is a large scale, Tolkien-esque fantasy. You've got magic (but it's not called that), young heros from the backwoods of nowhere, and a whole host of nasty evil creatures and people. Definately a classic good vs. evil, light against dark kind of story.
