Oh, yeah, that's right. Thanks to mistborn (aka Brandon Sanderson), the Wheel is turning once again. I picked up my copy today and started in on the prologue right away. I don't think I even realized how excited I was to get a hold of this book until I actually got in my car to go to the bookstore. (At which point I may, or may not have squealed in delight ( Read more... )

The first book in this series is the book that made me realize that I could actually enjoy reading. That was a huge suprise for me at the time, so it has a special place in my heart.

The first one is The Eye of the World. This one and the second one are really good, excellent even. The third one is pretty good too but after that they start a slow decine in my opinion. It just gets to be way too long and you just want to find out how it ends. We're on our way now though, so I'm happy.

The Wheel of Time series is a large scale, Tolkien-esque fantasy. You've got magic (but it's not called that), young heros from the backwoods of nowhere, and a whole host of nasty evil creatures and people. Definately a classic good vs. evil, light against dark kind of story.

Sounds like a simple question but... Uh, yes and no?

The creator of the series, Robert Jordan, said book 12 was going to be the final one. He titled it A Memory of Light and said it was going to be l~ong. But even if the publisher had to make a whole new binding just for him, it was only going to be one book. Well, RJ became ill and died in 2007 with the book unfinished. Brandon Sanderson was hired to finish his work but not surprisingly, there was way more than one book worth of storyline to get through. So they are actually publishing the author's intended "final book" as three seperate books. The one I'm reading now is the first of those three.

Whoa... So..is the story flowing well?
How do they know it's being written as he intended before his death? 0.o

Well, so far so good, but for as pumped as I was last week, I still haven't gotten very far. Got distracted with the holiday and a race and Merlin. ^_^;

We're told there were extensive notes, outlines, and key sections already written - including the final scene which is a big relief. Apparently RJ spent his final days dictating the story to his assistants and wife (who is the editor for the series). That's dedication if I've ever heard it.
