Also, the phrase is "cross to bear", as in to endure or, in literal terms, carry.

Dammit! I debated over that one, but sleep deprived is never a good state to be making grammar decisions.

Oh my god, it was so heart wrenching watching Iris packing away all of Wally's belongings and go through the mourning process; Iris going through Anger to Despair until finally Acceptance. Reading about how Barry is trying to hope that Wally's death would just go away shows that he feels truly hopeless and perhaps is in slight denial. Maybe he believes that if he goes fast enough around the world, he could reverse the rotation of the earth and reverse time to the point right before Wally had to give up his life (I remember that from the first Superman Movie). And, the line "she recognizes this as her cross to bare," was just a beautiful addition that shows the feelings of guilt Iris must be feeling and made me cry even more.
You are one awesome writer!anon and this was just perfect; even if it was a 'minifill', it was still great.

I hadn't thought about that, I just thought that that's what speedsters do when everything is out of control, they run. Barry's not really thinking straight, but that idea might well be in the mix of emotions. I think he, along with Iris, slightly blames her for it, though he doesn't want to and Iris kinda sees that.
Thankyou!

That's really sad... And that Iris is cleaning up his room, instead of his parents... D:

I always thought Wally might live with or have a room at Iris and Barry's place as well, but I can also see the whole family falling apart (and kinda blaming Iris) and it being left to her to sort stuff out.
