The Bun just left happily with his grandparents about forty minutes ago; they'll have breakfast together, then take him to school. It feels strange to be sitting around an empty flat without the usual whirlwind of questions, demands, and messes surrounding me. I have a spare hour all to myself, and what do I end up doing? Have a good trip!! I was recently considering a trip away from my boy with my gfs. But the whole guilt thing is proving too hard. Perhaps a year or two more for me haha

Can I ask what kind of distractions have you got for him? We'll be going on a trip without the boys in mid July, and I'm (already) trying to rack my brains to think of things they can do at my ILs place, preferably with minimal supervision (so like, flash cards or activities that require the ILs to be too hands on would be a no-no :S) otherwise the TV will be perpetually on....

Most of his distractions turned out to be stuff (park, zoo, mall) that got everybody out of the house; not sure if this would work out well with your ILs! He drives us the most nuts when he's at home, really, because he bugs us to play with him, or whines about his stuff, etc etc (as I'm sure you know). I did tell J to give him playdoh or waterplay or art stuff because those are activities that The Bun loves and he can be left largely unsupervised during these times, but they ended up going out a lot so that was the way time passed quickest for them.
