While I was getting my hair butchered on Friday night, The Bun was having a sleepover at my parents' place. I'm leaving for Switzerland (alone!) next week and since my parents will be babysitting him full-time for an entire week, they thought they'd better get some practice first, as well as let The Bun get used to sleeping in a different place ( Read more... )

The Bun had an interesting day at playschool today. This term they're learning all about food, and so far they've done things like make their own chapati, decorate cupcakes, and experiment with carbonated water. Today my parents and I took The Bun to see his first theatrical production - A Brown Bear, A Moon and A Caterpillar: Treasured Stories by Eric Carle by the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada. Like many kids his age, The Bun is very familiar with all three stories, particularly Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? which he first encountered ( Read more... )

The Bun (talking to his Thomas the Tank Engine figurine): Thomas, do you have a mommy?
Thomas (in high-pitched squeaky voice): No, I have no mommy.
The Bun: Where is your mommy?
Thomas: My mommy is the TV.

So that's what you get when you limit TV consumption.

Right before J left for Bern, we decided that we had to have our annual durian feast before the peak season is over. My sister's fiance, G, invited our family over to his house for lunch today. The Bun has visited a couple of times before and enjoyed being the centre of attention, lavished upon him by the doting in-laws-to-be (what a mouthful), their adult children (G's siblings), and the domestic helpers. J just left for Bern about an hour ago, after squeezing in all the father-son bonding time with The Bun he could manage.
