An old close friend has been suffering through this condition for the last couple of months. My friend is convinced of being infested with mites/scabies/lice, and their house and pets are infested as well. Lots of their furniture has been (needlessly) trashed. House has been (over) treated for mites, etc. My friend has seen a dermatologist a few times, and they find nothing, and now my friend says the dermatologists are all quacks and the doctors are all conspiring against my friend. My friend is self-treating to the extreme. Ordering stuff from the internet that is for vets and professional pest control. My friend now has "burned" skin from self treating with lice stuff, industrial sulfur, industrial strength pesticides put directly on skin, and ingested ivermectin for horses. Recently, my friend fell and broke an arm at the radial, a bad break. I suspect that may have been related to the ingestion of Ivermectin. Could be wrong about that tho. My friend has lots of sleepless nights over the last couple of months and isn't eating ( ... )

Just in time, I'm going to my dermie on Fri.

More seriously, I have a friend who went thru the "mite" thing.
apparently her daughter had brought in some "bed mites" when she visited from Utah. But she (the daughter) convinced her mom she (the mom) must have "bird mites" from an old nest in the eaves. The mom freaked out, could not get rid of the feeling of being constantly bitten. Long story short, she moved out had the place fumigated, moved back in after a month of weekly checks of all clear, and put the house up for sale after a week.

That psychosis stuff (of any kind) can mess you up worse than the real thing.
