Summary: Not everything is as it seems, and for those who are as far from normal as you can get, life is a bleak existence. The only ones who can truly understand what these individuals go through are those...just like them.
A/N: Roleplaying is when two or more people collaborate on a story by taking control of certain characters. YoungSaeng is played by
renichifreak and KyuJong is played by me.
If it hadn't been for his Gift, KyuJong would have completely lost track of time as he felt YoungSaeng relax against him. After finishing YoungSaeng's songs, the others took turns choosing what songs to do. Some of them were soft and relaxing, some were just plain hilarious and had poor HaRa on the floor, she was laughing so hard.
Finally HyunJoong looked at his watch, and stood. "It's getting late, we should get going." KyuJong blinked, sitting up straight and looking at his own watch. They'd spent practically the whole day in here, the sky darkening outside the room. He looked over at YoungSaeng, smiling peacefully. This was a nice break from everything that had happened.
"Wait," Nicole called. "Before we do, there's one thing left." She smiled, a mischievous look in her eyes. "We haven't seen the lovebirds kiss yet!" KyuJong nearly choked on air.
YoungSaeng turned bright red at Nicole's statement. He averted his eyes, looking at everything except the room’s other occupants.
HyungJoon tugged on the girl's ponytail lightly. "Yah, you little pervert. Leave them alone," he chuckled, laughing harder at her squeak.
"But I want to see them kiss!" she protested, swatting at HyungJoon's hand and giving YoungSaeng and KyuJong pleading eyes. It was KyuJong's turn to look away.
"You're embarrassing them," HyunJoong laughed.
"Please, just a quick one?" Nicole asked them both, clapping her hands together.
YoungSaeng began shifting nervously under the girl's pleading eyes. It didn't help in the least that he felt it from HaRa as well, though she was thankfully being quiet about it.
Biting his lip, YoungSaeng turned and quickly kissed KyuJong, blush somehow managing to deepen as he hid behind his boyfriend.
KyuJong blushed as well when he felt YoungSaeng's soft lips against his own for a brief moment, wrapping his arms around the younger boy to help hide him from his classmates.
"You two are so precious!" Nicole exclaimed with a small squeal, beaming at them both. HaRa was slightly pink as well; even the boys seemed to be amused.
"KyuSaeng," HaRa murmured.
"Yes!" Nicole gushed.
"What?" HyungJoon asked blankly.
"KyuJong, and YoungSaeng," HaRa explained, pointing at first one, then the other. "Put them together and you get KyuSaeng."
"What have you two been reading...on second thought, I don't want to know," HyungJoon stated.
YoungSaeng turned to look at them for a moment before blurting out the first thing that came to mind. "God, you girls are creepy..."
HyunJoong burst out laughing at the statement, nodding his head frantically in agreement. "Oh my God, we need to be friends!" he choked out through his laughter.
KyuJong laughed as well, unable to stop as he held on to his boyfriend. He'd never heard YoungSaeng talk like that with other people before; he was getting along with the others so amazingly. Neither of the girls seemed put off by the comment…in fact, they were laughing almost as hard as HyunJoong.
"We've been trying to say that for ages now," HyungJoon said, and yelped as Nicole smacked him playfully off the head. "How is it that YoungSaeng can say it, and when I do, I get hit?" he huffed.
"Because he's much cuter than you," Nicole told him frankly, HaRa giggling.
"Okay, that's just not fair!" HyungJoon yelled. Turning, he walked up to YoungSaeng and mock-glared at him, causing him to lift an eyebrow curiously. "YoungSaeng, I demand that you lend me some of your cuteness. I get hit way too much, and I don't like it."
That did it. The laughter that had been building flooded out as YoungSaeng started laughing loudly at the statement before burying his face into KyuJong's shoulder, body shaking.
Blinking in utter surprise, KyuJong broke into a wide grin as YoungSaeng's clear laughter echoed through the music room before becoming muffled in KyuJong's shirt. Warmth spread through his chest as he patted his boyfriend on the back lightly, kissing the head-full of black hair. From the corner of his eyes, he could have sworn he saw HyunJoong and Nicole give each other a high-five.
"Breathing is a good thing," HaRa commented as the group gathered closer now that the barrier between them and YoungSaeng had been all but shattered. Nicole sat down on the bench on YoungSaeng's other side, smiling happily.
It took a few, but eventually YoungSaeng was calm enough to relax and breath, though he had shifted his position and was now all but in KyuJong's lap. He slowly wiped his eyes dry of the tears that had formed from his laughter.
"I haven't laughed like that well, ever, actually," he explained, lips curled in a small smile.
"Never???" HyungJoon blinked, eyes comically wide. "Well, that settles it, you need to hang out with us more often. We'll give those laughing muscles a proper workout!"
"We'll have to do that tomorrow though," HyunJoong said, laughing. "We need to get going. Are you both coming to rehearsal next time?"
"It'll be fun," HyungJoon said. Nicole opened her mouth, and he quickly overran her. "No, you can't dress him up in our props."
She pouted.
YoungSaeng blinked before nodding at the question. "Yeah, I'll be going as long as Kyu yah feels better."
HyunJoong, who seemed to be the leader of their group, moved to drop a hand on YoungSaeng's shoulder before he thought better of it and just rested it on the piano. "Don't listen to them if they say anything about makeovers. I was dumb enough to listen and ended up in a dress."
"Kyu yah? Oh my god that's so cute~!" Nicole started gushing all over again. HyungJoon tugged on her ponytail again and dodged a smack.
"I think I still have pictures of that," KyuJong mused. "Want to see, Saengie?" HyunJoong stared at him in shock.
"I think he'd look good in a dress though," HaRa said, tilting her head to one side. "Well, better than HyunJoong did."
Brightening up at the idea of seeing something incriminating, YoungSaeng nodded, making a 'gimme' motion with his hand. Seeing the picture that was in KyuJong's phone, he started laughing again.
Pausing a bit to consider, YoungSaeng pulled out his own phone and scrolled through the pictures before handing it over to HaRa.
HyunJoong protested on how KyuJong was supposed to be too nice to have held on to something so blackmailing. HaRa took YoungSaeng's offered phone and looked at the picture displayed, smiled brightly. "I was right."
"Let me see!" Nicole jumped up off the piano bench and went behind HaRa. "Oh my god...I have to see this in person!" She exclaimed, squealing at the picture of YoungSaeng dolled up as a girl. "Where was this from???"
"I think Kyu wants to see," HaRa noted when KyuJong lifted his head curiously. He promptly flushed a deep red.
Blushing, YoungSaeng took back his phone and handed it to KyuJong, watching the boys swarm him to see what was so special.
"My neighbor wanted to be a cosmetologist and thought I'd be fun to practice on," he explained.
HyungJoon stared at the picture before turning toward KyuJong seriously. "Can I borrow your boyfriend to make my ex girlfriend jealous?"
He stumbled as Nicole thwacked him again.
Looking at the picture, KyuJong blinked, going even redder if that was possible. HyunJoong stared as well. "Wow...are you sure you're a guy?" he asked YoungSaeng. "There's no way a guy can be so pretty. I'm a little jealous KyuJong got to you first."
"Kyu, you're a tomato," HaRa said. Nicole smiled knowingly. "You want to see it in person too, don't you?" KyuJong fidgeted nervously, making them laugh. "You're so pretty, you made him speechless," Nicole told YoungSaeng.
"More than just pretty," KyuJong mumbled, blushing as he handed the phone back.
YoungSaeng took back his phone and blushed at the compliments, but found himself smiling nonetheless. "We'll see," he stated, hoping to appease the girls. "And no, you can't borrow me," he added to HyungJoon.
HyunJoong laughed, then ushered both girls towards the door. "Go, before you traumatize him anymore. You too," he added, sending HyungJoon after them. "We'll see you both at rehearsal then?" he asked, looking back at the couple.
KyuJong nodded, still red as he held YoungSaeng close.
YoungSaeng, as red as KyuJong, nodded and waved as the door shut. A moment later, YoungSaeng playfully smacked his boyfriend on the arm.
KyuJong yelped slightly in surprise. "What was that for?" he protested, though the smile didn't leave his lips.
"Not telling him that he couldn't borrow me, you jerk," YoungSaeng pouted.
Laughing a little, KyuJong wrapped his arms more securely around the other boy's waist. "You know I wouldn't have let him...and it wasn't my fault I was a little distracted by the picture," he mumbled, the red returning before it could even fade out completely.
YoungSaeng nudged him this time. "So are you saying that I'm more distracting as a girl then? I'm hurt, Kyu yah..." YoungSaeng teased. It felt nice to be able to loosen up for a change.
"No," KyuJong protested. "You're equally distracting as a guy, I'm just more prepared for it." He rested his head on YoungSaeng's shoulder. "Will you forgive me?"
"I suppose I could forgive you then, since that was a nice save," YoungSaeng smiled, turning and kissing the older boy.
KyuJong lifted his head to kiss YoungSaeng back, one hand moving from his boyfriend's waist to run through his soft hair. Emotions swelled up inside his chest and made it hard to breathe. "I love you," he murmured against the other boy's lips.
"I love you, too," YoungSaeng followed, smiling brightly before returning his lips to KyuJong's, wrapping both arms around the other's neck. Now that the words were out there, YoungSaeng was positive that he'd never tire of hearing them.
As before, those words sent such a rush of happiness through KyuJong he had to restrain himself from picking YoungSaeng up and spinning him around. Leaning into the renewed kiss, he deepened it gradually, their bodies pressed together until he could swear he could feel YoungSaeng's heartbeat.
YoungSaeng gasped into the kiss. He didn't think he could feel any better in the other's presence, and feeling his body pulled against KyuJong's made him take it all back.
This felt much more...intimate than anything before, and it sent chills down his spine.
It felt like Heaven, and KyuJong didn't ever want it to end.
Finally breaking the kiss when breathing became an issue, he kept his head rested lightly against YoungSaeng's, eyes closed and their breath mixing.
"It feels like more," YoungSaeng murmured against KyuJong's lips as he was held close, savoring the feeling of their breath mingling. It was difficult to explain, but he knew that he didn't want it to stop.
"More?" KyuJong questioned quietly, gently brushing locks of black hair back and touching their lips lightly again. He opened his eyes slowly after a moment, taking in his boyfriend's expression.
"I don't really know how to explain it. Just...more," he murmured, leaning into the other's touch.
Slightly confused, KyuJong smiled and pulled YoungSaeng closer, wrapping his arms lightly around the other boy’s waist and kissing him again, eyes slipping closed.
Until there was a snap from the door and hushed giggles. Opening his eyes and breaking the kiss so he could see, KyuJong looked over to see Nicole and HyungJoon poking around the doorway, a camera in Nicole's hands. Seeing they had been caught, she squeaked and ran for it.
At noticing the two, YoungSaeng released an almost squeak of his own, burying his face in KyuJong's neck. He wouldn't be surprised if his boyfriend could feel his blush.
HyunJoong poked his head in and smiled apologetically. "They got away from us..."
KyuJong flushed slightly as well, one hand going to the back of the other boy's head as YoungSaeng hid against his neck. "I-it's...all right," he murmured, watching HyungJoon take off after Nicole. "What are they planning on doing with that picture?" Hopefully not blackmail.
HyunJoong sighed exasperatedly. "Who knows with those two, but it probably won't be blackmail or anything like that," he smiled.
YoungSaeng turned his head and looked at HyunJoong and HaRa, seeing her hiding behind his back, blush still clear on his face through the curtain of bangs.
"Hopefully," KyuJong chuckled. Looking back at YoungSaeng again, he smiled at the blush on his boyfriend's face before returning his gaze to HyunJoong. "Are you sure you're not trying to get us back for seeing that picture of you in a dress?" he laughed.
HyunJoong's smile turned devious. "If I wanted to pay you back, I'd use my power as leader of our group to get you into a dress."
KyuJong's eyes widened at that. "It wasn't my idea to get you into that dress, don't take it out on us," he protested. He was just the one sneaking a picture while HyunJoong was trying to get rid of Nicole's camera.
YoungSaseng had to laugh at that. "You would look pretty cute, Kyu," he mused.
"You're turning my own boyfriend against me?" KyuJong asked HyunJoong, looking injured. Really, he was thrilled YoungSaeng was getting along with the others so well.
YoungSaeng pouted slightly. "You've seen me as a girl, so it's only fair."
HyunJoong grinned as he leaned against the door frame. "Oh, I had nothing whatsoever to do with this."
"I don't believe you," the time traveler told HyunJoong, his eyes amused. "You don't like me enough as a guy, I have to be a girl too?" KyuJong asked YoungSaeng, blinking at him. Something told him he was going to end up in a dress by the end of the year...especially if YoungSaeng got Nicole and HaRa on his side.
"I recall you being unable to stop oggling me as a girl," YoungSaeng pointed out.
"He caught you there, KyuJong oppa," HaRa smiled as KyuJong went red again. "It's not something I'm used to seeing," he mumbled.
HyunJoong blushed as well. "Not gonna lie that I thought you were a girl the first time I saw you," he mumbled, looking at YoungSaeng, who only managed to sigh.
"How sad is it that I'm getting used to that?"
KyuJong couldn't help a small laugh at that. HaRa beamed at him. "Just don't let Nicole talk you into being an extra in any plays, it's guaranteed she'll have you in a dress."
YoungSaeng shrugged. "I don't have a huge problem with it if it ever happens, but it's not something that I actively go out of my way to do, so don't tell her." His eyes looked straight into HaRa's, knowing that she'd be the one to tell between the two.
HaRa went bright red and hid behind HyunJoong. KyuJong laughed, resting his chin on his boyfriend's shoulder. "What do you want to do now?" he murmured.
"Hmmmm...relax," YoungSaeng replied. Between classes and sessions and everything that had happened recently, he'd barely had a moment to just breathe.
"I think that's our cue to leave," HaRa whispered, pulling HyunJoong away to find where in the world Nicole and HyungJoon had gone.
KyuJong smiled. "Here, or in our room?" he asked quietly.
"Doesn't matter," YoungSaeng replied. "I think I just want to be with you and do nothing else," he confessed, blush clear on his face.
KyuJong flushed again, biting back a smile. "We can do that." He brushed his lips lightly against YoungSaeng's cheek. "Our room will be more comfortable though." He stood after a moment, hand slipping into YoungSaeng's.
YoungSaeng smiled, small as it was. "Maybe we can watch a movie or something," he suggested, squeezing KyuJong's hand as he got to his feet.
Nodding, KyuJong kissed YoungSaeng lightly. "Sounds good to me. Anything you wanted to watch in particular?" If they didn't have it with them, they could always head to the rental store nearby, or go to the movie theater.
"Nothing really. We can just look through what we have," YoungSaeng replied, returning the kiss and leading them out of the music room. "They're nice," he said after a couple minutes of silence.
KyuJong chuckled. "They are. You were really opening up around them." He squeezed his boyfriend's hand lightly. "You looked like you were having fun."
YoungSaeng blushed and averted his eyes. "They remind me of you. They're just...very open and patient," he explained slowly.
"Well, I can tell they already adore you," KyuJong replied. "I think being able to talk to other people besides me like this is really helping your confidence."
"Well, before you, there was only one person that I could really talk to openly, but he's still in the hospital. He was actually the one who got me talking again since after the breakdown, I stopped completely." He paused. "That's one of the reasons why it's so hard for me to talk to people," YoungSaeng explained quietly.
KyuJong blinked in surprise over the new information. He wondered who the person in the hospital was. "No idea when he might get out?" He swung their joined hands slightly. "I think he'd be happy to see how you're faring now," he said.
YoungSaeng shook his head. "Trust me when I say that while I wasn't in there because I needed to be, he was," he explained, smiling slightly. "I wonder that myself sometimes."
Nodding slowly, KyuJong pondered on that for moment as they walked out of the main building and headed towards the dorms. It was growing dark outside, the sun setting. "We should probably start attending classes again," he murmured. He wondered if rumors about MyungDae's expulsion have gone around yet, but none of his classmates had mentioned anything.
YoungSaeng bit his lip, but nodded. As they walked outside, YoungSaeng stopped walking and looked at the area. The sunset darkened campus looked so different, but he couldn't deny liking it better without the clamor of students.
Stopping when YoungSaeng stopped, KyuJong watched his boyfriend as the other student looked around. "Everything all right?" he asked quietly.
"I like it out here. There's no one around, and the sky's nice," YoungSaeng mused.
KyuJong smiled, looking at the sky himself. The colors thrown across the clouds by the setting sun were beautiful, he had to admit. "Want to walk around for a bit?" he asked. It had been a while since either of them had really spent any time outside, and there were very few people around.
Smiling, YoungSaeng nodded, tightening his hold on KyuJong's hand and moving a bit closer.
Glancing around quickly, KyuJong leaned over and kissed the corner of YoungSaeng's mouth lightly before straightening again, smiling as they started to walk leisurely around the campus.
Blushing, YoungSaeng followed KyuJong, pulled gently along by their interlaced fingers. He enjoyed just being with him. He didn't have to pretend or hide his true self. He could be himself and KyuJong saw nothing wrong with that in the least.
Walking around, KyuJong enjoyed the silence for a long time. There was never any real need to talk; they understood each other perfectly without words.
Seeing a water sprinkler turn on in the small garden the students had made in a corner of the campus, KyuJong smiled. "One day, I want to be able to pause time with you while it's raining," he murmured. "To just have everything freeze around you, with the raindrops hanging in the air like crystals. It's amazing to see."
YoungSaeng looked up at KyuJong for a moment before smiling, face lighting up. "I'm sure it would be," he replied, leaning forward and pressing their lips together.
Relaxing as YoungSaeng kissed him, KyuJong returned the action, lifting his free hand to cup the side of the other boy's face, thumb stroking his cheek. There were many moments he wanted to just pause and cherish forever, and this was one of them.
In all his life, YoungSaeng had never felt so at peace as he did at that moment. If he doubted even in the slightest that he loved KyuJong, he took it back. There was no way he didn't love the young man holding him as if he were all that mattered.
Unable to stop himself, he stepped closer, deepening the kiss a bit more, allowing more of himself to come out.
Surprised when he felt YoungSaeng deepen the kiss, KyuJong felt warmth in his chest from the knowledge that YoungSaeng was opening up to him so much. He felt so privileged to be able to see the shy boy like this...relaxed and trusting. He trusted KyuJong, and the time traveler vowed he'd never break that trust. Allowing YoungSaeng to deepen the kiss as much as he wanted, he parted his lips slightly to let the other boy in.
Aside from a kiss here and there, YoungSaeng had never been the one to start anything, but he found himself craving KyuJong like nothing he'd ever felt before. Even if it was just a kiss, KyuJong was the one with him, which seemed to make all the difference in the world.
After a moment, YoungSaeng pulled back slightly for air, panting against his boyfriend's lips, eyes closed and face flushed.
Breathing unevenly, KyuJong slowly opened his eyes halfway so he could see YoungSaeng's expression, gaze tender as he brushed strands of hair out of the other boy's face before allowing his hand to settle on YoungSaeng's small waist. Smiling, he didn't say anything and just closed his eyes again, lips barely touching his boyfriend's and yet fitting together perfectly even in that instant, their breath mingling.
YoungSaeng relaxed completely, something that only happened when in KyuJong's presence. Why couldn't he have found this person earlier? So many things may have been so different. This was the first time in his life that he didn't feel like a freak.
"I don't want this to stop, Kyu yah," he murmured, voice quiet.
"It won't," KyuJong whispered in return, kissing those soft lips again. "If we don't want it to, it will never end." He held YoungSaeng against him lightly, completely not caring that they were in the middle of the school grounds where someone could come out and see them at any time. This was perfect.
