THE PERFECT SONG, AND I DIDN'T THINK OF IT ONCE WHILE WRITING. orz If ever I write a sequel in which they get together, that's gonna be the title.

I wanted to leave the ending[ish] open, because as much as I actually identify with Chanyeol in this, it's really really sad and limiting to not even allow yourself to be open to the possibility of love or at least a deeper understanding and connection to someone/s else. So it's perfectly possible they get together. Maybe they last. Break up and come back together. The possibilities are endless! \o0o/

yayyy a krisyeol, my fave chanyeol pairing! first of all, your writing is beautiful! i love your use of words and your descriptions and how you made a simple college campus seem like such a magical place. i love what you did with the prompt and how you portrayed chanyeol’s thoughts. like i could really understand where his fears were coming from and the background of his experiences with love really added to it. i really liked the characterizations, especially yifan’s. shy, adorkable!yifan is the best! and i have the scene of chanyeol playing guitar while yifan plays basketball stuck in my head, like the imagery in this fic is so gorgeous and I just really adore the overall feel of this fic. like it's slightly melancholic, but still hopeful. and the side characters were simply amazing! i love how you incorporated the small tidbits of them, like the sharing clothes, kyungsoo’s headlocks, joonmyun knowing everybody, chenyeol taking care of baekhyun and just everything else really added to the fic. and i liked the ending, how chanyeol’s

I wanted that kind of ethereal-ish feeling, because any romance movie taking place on campus has that sort of feeling, like everything is perfect and will just fall into place without much trouble. But that doesn't happen with Chanyeol, because he doesn't let it. He's not blinded by attraction. So I set up those lovely conditions but shut Yifan down. He's not gonna give him up or let him down, though. I wanted him to keep some hope. I'm rooting for him. (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

i felt bad for chanyeol, but i understood how he felt. i think that the first part of the fic really showed how he felt.
i liked that yifan looked for him, but wasn't overbearing. he simply was there. and i loved jongdae calling him a giant puppy.

I'd hoped it would, because I didn't want Chanyeol to just be an unloving dick for the hell of it. He's just not had good experiences, which is understandable, although he does end up limiting his own life and experiences because of it. With the openish ending, I hopefully left him wiggle room to change, with some subtle persistence just by sticking around from Yifan and his friends. Not being pushy. Just kinda being available and not shying away.

This is such a lovely read, Amanda! I really liked the way you portrayed chanyeol's progression ♡ From the initial no-I-can't-do-relationships-go-away to maybe Yifan isn't such a bad person to the kind of acceptance at the end where he's open to being friends with Yifan or maybe even more than that. From cool to so many warm feels - I really enjoyed that growth. And Yifan seems like ideal boyfriend material? He's so earnest about his affection for Chanyeol. Thanks for sharing this, Amanda! ;;w;; Thank you! I tried to just get him to that acceptance of possibility, so I am pleased that you as a reader picked up on it and the overall development of feeling. (I wish my ending was stronger, but I just could not do it. Nothing I tried worked any better than what I got, but it seems like it was enough, anyway, so that's a relief.) Yifan is very boyfriend, and I don't think even a humbug like Chanyeol can deny it for long. That was my true goal. uwu
