I like to believe there's an afterlife. Some people believe that spirits walk among the living, some don't. I'm not trying to start a religious argument. The simple fact is that some people believe and others don't, I respect their right to do so. Monday morning I jolted awake from a dead sleep; it was pouring outside. So, I came out of the bedroom ( Read more... )

I kind of can relate to your experience.

Right after Robert's dad passed away we were staying at the old cottage, that Pop loved, for a couple of days. The first morning I woke up to a STRONG smell of bacon cooking. It smelled so good that I got up hoping that Robert had some left for me. I got out to the kitchen and Robert was there... no sign of bacon and none had been cooked.

My family thinks I am a bit crazy for this... but Pop was ALWAYS cooking bacon the years after his wife passed away...

It felt like a haunting to me. But if that's all the more frightening a haunting can be... guess that's not bad at all.

After Cinnamon died, I remember sitting at my computer and suddenly feeling her head resting on my thigh like she used to.

It was a real feeling.

No, it doesn't hurt. It's actually comforting. I think if I couldn't feel him around here it some way that it would. Tom and I are still trying to decide if and where we should bury the box his ashes are in.

When my childhood cat, that I left with my mom and dad, died my mom could feel her jump up onto the bed. I felt it too when we went to stay.

I also could hear our first dog's nails hitting the floor for a while after she died.

Eventually, when you are ready, the smells, sounds, and presence will fade.
