Getting into TS3?

Jun 03, 2011 21:44

Hello lovelies! I have begun to write my petition letter for college and I'm terrified. A distraction is needed, so I was wondering...if you've made the (permanent) switch from TS2 to TS3, how did you do it? For me, it's taking more than playing the game to actually get into it. Ignoring the hours I spend creating a sim and their home, the gameplay ( Read more... )

First of all, good luck on your petition! I wish you all the best.

In reference to your query, I only have three pieces of advice.

1. Turn off aging for a little while. It will ease the pressure a little bit. I also felt more comfortable modifying my world piece by piece(as I explored it) once I turned the aging off.
2. Get Twallan's Supercomputer mod. It appeals to my deeply seated need to control everything (or delete puddings on the fly). :D
3. Try not to make comparisons between the two games. I felt I was able to enjoy sims 3 for its own virtues once I stopped pitting the two against each other. :)

I'd like to second point 3 here. Sims 3 is a totally different animal to Sims 2. It's like a horse and a zebra. They look similar and have similar interactions but are totally different animals ( ... )

Thank you!

I'll turn off the aging, but it seems like the supercomputer mod is unavailable atm. :P And I'm trying to stop the comparisons! I guess the worst part is that I don't even realize I'm comparing until I stop.

I have the same problem with TS3. I installed it as soon as it came out and played it for a little while, but then uninstalled it. I have installed it on two separate occasions since then and this last time even put in CC to see if that would make me like it more and I still can't get a grip on it. Shrug. I like the trait system and the sims' expressions and the like, but meh. I don't know.

Good luck on your petition! :D

I know! I love the traits and the expressions, but...yeah. Sims 2.5 needs it, methinks. Man I wish.

Icon love! And thank you. :)

I was basically forced to make the transition from 2 to 3, and boy was it painful. (in a nutshell, my TS2 game got so big it outgrew my computer, and so big I couldn't even edit any of it in SimPE...so I basically had a choice: give Sims 3 a second chance or start playing Sims 2 again from scratch. I chose to give Sims 3 another try after ditching it in horror when it was released ( ... )

Oh wow! I'm sorry you were forced, in a way. that's no fun.

I do love the scenery in TS3. It's honestly breathtaking! I guess I will just have to be more patient, indeed.

And ha! I didn't download Aikea's hack this time and now I see why I blindly downloaded it everytime before. The game camera is crazy!

And thank you!

lol I can gather that it is going to take A LOT of effort. Bleh! I don't want to put effort into it. Just kidding. :P But yeah, I did practically the same thing.

I'm sorry yours is laggy. :| That's no fun.

P.P.S. THANK YOOOOOOOUUU :3 :D

I feel your pain. I installed TS3 as soon as it came out on the market, played it for fifteen minutes and then uninstalled it in fury. I have installed it two or three times after that and currently has it installed on my computer, but I never play it (because there's somethign wrong with the stupid patch and it wont start -_-*). I want to like the game because I love the general idea of an open neighborhood, but for some reason I can't seem to get into it. I hope things work out for you and you find a way to enjoy the game <3

And good luck :D

Well thank you! I hope I get into it as well. I also hope you can find a way to fix your problem and maybe you can get into it too. :)

Thank you.
