Coming to grips, for some reason today, with the fact that I am an atheist. It's not a big leap. I was in a kind of 'not really Christian anymore' or 'haven't thought about it in a bit' state before. Agnostic was kind of a nice term to think about, a kind of well if something is out there's that's cool too. But really no. I don't actually

I was agnostic for a long time too. Partially because I had a pretty nice Catholic upbringing, no real horror stories, so it was comfortable leaving the question open. But gradually the only thing left was my worries about ceasing to be. I finally stopped being worried about that and one of the things that helped was when I read the brilliant observation that our state after death is the same as before we're alive, and the pre-life part doesn't scare us so the post-life shouldn't either.

For me that thought helped me accept being atheist and I have been quite happy since. An awesome, patient, and intelligent wife I could talk to and figure things out with was another big plus.
