... a lady on the news just said that the state is out of ice. That's not cool.

I got all panicky not having a full tank of gas, so I went out an hour ago thinking the lines might be shorter in places that still actually had gas. I was right! I just filled up at a Shell near my house. I was driving by and saw some cars so I pulled in. It was owned/operated by two Indian men, but there were all these guys standing around ( Read more... )

I know.

I'm okay. I just get panicky but it'll get better as the days go by. Once more electricity is turned on and things start getting back to normal.

I get exactly what you're feeling... When the big blackout knocked out power in most of the Midwest a few years ago (August 2003), while my daughter was a baby and my husband was away, I remember that same panic. I had a full tank of gas and lots of bottled water (we were on a boil advisory for 5 days), and luckily power came back on at my house after only a day and a half. But they instituted a curfew in Detroit, and I just kept thinking, if shit goes down in Detroit, I DO NOT want to be in the middle of it alone with my baby! And it was weird to know others around were suffering but not be able to help. I bet you will feel a little better once you're volunteering because you'll have that to focus on.

But if it gets too weird, get on out. Come visit me or something.

Thanks for the offer, love. I need to stay here for my doctor's appointments and to try and get a job. ♥

*hug* How weird. I couldn't imagine living like that. We did when Mt. St. Helens blew up, but I was 6 and didn't remember much of it and didn't have to deal with the living situation.

It is always interesting to read your posts about it.

Well, I'm pretty sure in the next day or so they are going to suspend the boiling water mandate. So I'll be good then but this is a really good idea for future reference.
