*Sigh* Painful, but also very much what they need, these two broken souls. I shivered when Jack called him "Master." And I loved it when the Doctor realized just how far Jack's let himself get run down. Maybe they can salvage each other, after all.

I think it's too late for either of them to be truly saved... but they surely can make things better for each other... for a while...
