I'm not sure how notable "I am in your base killing your d00ds" is, but it might be worth mentioning if you decide to cover memetic mutation. The phrase has changed from the grammatically accurate original to "im in ur base killin ur d00dz" thanks to the power of the anonymous subculture.

The Slenderman is a more recent meme and not recommended for late-night researching if you freak out easily, but I have always found the story fascinating. The Slenderman started as a nameless being in a "make creepy pictures" Photoshop thread on SomethingAwful. Other posters started incorporating him into their images, and soon after people began creating their own mythology behind him. Some said they actually saw him in real life, even though they knew full well his origin story and the fact that he was entirely fictional. People started creating alternate reality games, adding to the story, elevating him to urban legend status. This was a little over six months ago, and now the Slenderman is an inseparable part of anonymous lore.
