The government loyalists are mourning privately but swallowing everything the government tell them about what happened, and the anti-government types are celebrating and waiting to see what the next guy's like. That's how I figure it, anyway.

But you're right. It is pretty pathetic how everyone's going around like nothing happened. I don't get it either.

Because humans by nature are greedy, selfish and weak. They think of themselves and they're ignorant of the world around them, they actually believe they are a superior race.
