Fannish not-Friday Five

5 characters or couples you wish could have gotten a happy/happier ending.1) Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, most X-Men canons -- given the fluidity of comic book canon/alternate timelines/etc., it seems just possible those crazy kids might work it out eventually, at least in some dimension or another, but by then they will have done their time ( Read more... )

I may have imprinted strongly on princess/ruffian relationships circa 1977

I kinda flippin' love you.

Or, you know, your choice of things to write.

off to read*

Imprinted VERY strongly. I could also go for princes/lady ruffians, but those are tragically in shorter supply.

I speculated not too long ago what would have been if it had been Prince Luke of the House of Organa and Leia, the farm girl who had the Big Destiny ahead of her.

It wouldn't take much to convince me of a Prince Han and the Mercenary Leia Organa as an alt to that AU. LOL

The Tangled fic was what I've come to expect from your fic, touching and based on reality rather than wishes. It makes so much sense that Eugene would gravitate towards his chosen profession, his fears for Rapunzel, and her parents incredible love for their daughter vs. Eugene's sense of practicality about Rapunzel's role in life. Very sublime and I love your Eugene voice very much, it was true to the character.

I had kind of given up on the novels well before that point, but I'm glad to know that canonically they fared somewhat better. That said, they STILL caused nine years' worth of the fannish equivalent of blue balls. Ahem. Excuse my French.

Lo, these many years later, I'm still bitter about Jo and Laurie. I've always thought it was one of the great literary miscarriages of justice. Stupid Amy.

*deep breath* So, yes, I think it's fair to say that I agree with your #5. :)

I feel more sorry for Amy than anything else. I mean, she's supposed to live her whole life knowing Laurie wouldn't have thought of her once if Jo had said yes. Not exactly the recipe for matrimonial bliss.

Somehow I think the money makes up for a lot of that with Amy. But, you're right that being worse than an afterthought can't be good for the ego.

Why is that epilogue not in EVERY EDITION EVER? Where is it? Is it online? Anywhere? GIVE IT ME. Ahem. I mean, that is very interesting.
