I just saw the news on Racialicious. I'd studied him in my American poetry class in university, specifically The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. Thanks for reccing his new album--I didn't even know he was putting out new works!

Hi,thanks for the link to the Racialicous piece, a couple of the vids there are from the last album, I'm new here and New York is killing me. I don't usually get so affected when celebs I like die, but GSH has been in the background of my like for nearly 40 years, he was an amazing guy.

Hi Masq, I'm doing ok. I became a Great Aunt again this morning to a boy called Dexter, she had him at home and all the family are doing well. :o) My life's pretty quite now days, through choice. A lot of listening to good music and knitting. I got diagnosed with Diabetes about 18 months ago so dealing with that. My health's not too bad though and at least it's got me back into exercising regularly and sorting out my diet.
I'm not on-line much any more, generally just to check e-mails and skim LJ. I just felt the need to honour Gil Scott-Heron in some way, his music has been an important part of my last 35-40 years.

If I can figure out how to do it, I'll try to get it together to post some of the music I'm listening to at the moment. I've been meaning to for a while and now I can't remember how to do it! Duh, menopause-brain for the lose.
