damn... alot of stuff really happened over a weekend... though alot of stuff did happen, this doesn't explain the post about retiring from cosplay! what they heck?!
btw, talk about insult to injury when the LJ crashed... next time it could be better to just type it on Word then copy and paste

Actually, I was also typing during work. :P

Taking a break from cosplay is just taking a break, not officially retiring. I have too much on my load right now, so I'm gonna take care of that first.

haha, wow, that's alot of free time you have there.

ahh.. i guess i just got the impression of that since you used that whole "indefinitely" thing, as long as you do make a comeback i'm sure people will be happy, though what if people just "happen" to make something that fits you? would you wear it? =D

As long as it's something I approve, then perhaps. :)

Free time now doesn't exist in my soul this year. :(

It's Victoria - one of "the cosplay people." Adding you!

It was cool talking and dancing with you at AX!

O hey Victoria! How ya doing!?

Thanks for the add! Sorry we didn't get a chance to hang out on Saturday or Sunday. We should hang out sometime!

P.S. I was always wonder who this LJ username was. hehe

Yup, it's Victoria. Accept no substitutes.

I live in the Los Angeles area, but I do frequent visiting the Bay Area now that I have family moving up there.

super lame how the staff were giving you guys such a hard time in your console cosplays - I saw people in way bigger costumes and no one was hassling them.
I did get my share of staff issues though - I went to go have my scythe for my Noitora cosplay and since it was 5 1/2 inches over the height limit they weren't going to let me carry it around. So I had to sit there and watch them hack off the bottom 5.5 inches of the staff of the scythe. I wanted to cuss them out so bad DX<
but yeah I seriously hope things improve next year.

Yeah, like that giant World of Warcraft rock we saw. I don't remember hearing issues about them. Other costumes that I know that are fully-built got shafted by staff for a similar reason as us.

What the fuck? Out of all the cons I been to, since when were they given the right to tamper with people's cosplay and props? I don't think they are even allow to do that. They can only give a warning and allow a choice of go or no go. Also, how long was the scythe? I've seen very long props at AX, so either they got shafted too (yuck) or you happen to be picked on by staff for no legit reason while not touching others with long props.

the actual blade of the scythe itself is like 6 something, and the staff isn't even as long as the blade. I went to go have it approved because I wanted to be a responsible cosplayer and not get hassled by the really annoying LACC security people to go have it checked out. The blade is made out of plywood, the thing would break before I could even successfully "harm" someone if i even wanted to. And my costume would have pretty much been pointless without the weapon (that and my friend and I worked on revamping it the day before we drove down).
Just another reason why I find Fanime more cosplayer friendly than AX, because Fanime had no problem with me carrying it around.

The biggest problem with these staffers is that they aren't even close to being committed to helping the con, let alone keep a very strong communication link between each other. I bet a lot of these people think it's just like a local con like ALA, MikomiCon, or PMX, and later on they don't realize that AX is a completely different ballgame (hence why I will never staff for AX even before this year). With all that, communication becomes a clusterfuck because it ends up with very inconsistent information or uninformed people who doesn't know how to handle these situations (i.e. they tell you something but another staffer said it's wrong and vice versa). Of course, this confuses everyone a lot ( ... )

What the? Wow... The staff sounds like they were a bunch of assholes this years. Harassing you guys just because people wanted to take lots of pictures of you is totally WTF right there. My friend and I were pretty scared of being told to leave since we too were mobbed for pics. But threatening to take your badges away for something that was out of your control? Messed up to the max.

Despite all the crap you guys had to put up with, I'm glad you were able to have some fun even if it was a little. I hope your next convention is more enjoyable. :(

Yeah. We managed to at least have fun so that we aren't entirely wasting time and money on this event, especially living 6-8 hours away from home. Very little of that was cosplay-related. The rest were either from friends, artist, alley, and main events.

In my opinion, they are accusing the wrong people. If this many photographers wanted to take a picture, what these staffers should have done was inform these photographers not to block the paths in a professional manner while informing us to move elsewhere too. That way, it's not siding on who's victimized. The attempt to revoke our badges is beyond power abuse.

By the way, what did you cosplay as? Not sure if I seen you.

I know whatcha mean there. My group lives a good 4-6 hours away from the convention center.

You have a point there. The photographers are the ones who cause the mass crowd control problem. I hope the staff isn't so, well... lack of a better word, stupid next time around although I can't say I'd want to go back next year. ._.

I cosplayed in different costumes while there (Shiki Misaki - The World Ends With You, Kairi - Kingdom Hearts II), but what I got mobbed in was my Princess Kairi dress which kinda scared me since all these photographers came out of nowhere. XD I didn't get a chance to see you guys, but I did meet your friend who cosplayed from Brain Age. My costume in question is here: http://www.cosplay.com/costume/235362/
