Ddaaammmnnnn. Got rejected from Leeds D: this does not bode well as it was one of two unis (the other being Sheffield) whose entry requirements I actually met. Also irritating because they gave me an informal offer last school year...I should have taken it then.

Rang them up (sad I know, but I wanted to hear what was wrong with my application ( Read more... )

leeds, via ljapp, fail, complaining, japanese, trip, uni

Leeds is not good enough for us, i didn't actually ask what was wrong with mine, if they're gonna reject me, then they can reject me.

Sheffield and Manchester offered me ABB.
and i'm also fecking terrified of going in the 3rd year. o.o
*hugs and crosses fingers*

I'm worried because I only meet the requirements there and at sheffield *dies*

argh but you are a better applicant than me (don't argue it, please, you've got better marks + do extra stuff) so :S I just have to hope...really don't want to be stuck here TAT.
We should save up and try and go the summer before for a few weeks so it isn't too scary!
*hugs* (my fingers are permenantly crossed these days...seriously, i type with just my last two fingers on my right hand...doesnt seem to slow me down too much)

''detailed critical comparison' of the books I've read' wtf? I'm sorry but since when did you need to put that in your personal statement? Seriously, whut?

I do have a sneaky suspicion they're trying to downsize our department to save money though what with the cuts, because it's one of the more expensive ones to run and a fair few members of staff have been disappearing lately...

I say challenge it if you wish to, it's not bad going to Japan in second year because everyone looks after you really well so even if your Japanese sucks balls (like mine) you'll be fine, but I would also advise against dropping out if your not sure you can get on another course, because if the fees are going up you might as well just stick at it and get it over and done with unless you really can't stand it.

i know D: I found their admissions policy (obviously AFTER i sent off my stuff) and it makes no mention of that either. just says reference to subject specific reading (which their was...sort of)

yeah, I know unis are getting harsher now...leeds are selling off their stuff to raise funds XD my old piano teacher was having a fit because her husband was having to move his bees out of the uni gardens or something equally odd...

yeah i don't think that i'll drop out. i'll probably try to get onto a different course first...i just dont think that i'll be able to get a 2.1 out of this so there isnt much point in doing it all.

thanks for writing though ^_^ made me feel much better <3 hope japan is still fun!
