I started off today in the night, deciding that I would 1.)call John about the screens and 2.) go on a diet. The contractor called yesterday eve, no bathroom floor for me til next week. I fretted the rest of the evening, drinking too many beer (the proper plural...as in deer), and then woke up in the middle of the night annoyed that the screens havent been done yet, so the bugs get in when the doors are open. So Comcast turned the cable off a week early and I spent an hour on the phone with "kim" to convince them that I had NOT asked them to do that...please turn it back on. I tried to do my homework online, but I kept feeling the unpacked things behind me in the house. Finally I just gave in and packed more boxes. Now that I am getting toward the end, the boxes are less homogenous and have varieties of items in them, trying to get it all in . I am keeping a notebook with the contents of each box, all numbered. A week from tomorrow the moving van arrives at 8:30 am, and I think I will be ready. It has been a long difficult road to this point. This house I live in now sold quickly and I felt clever the way I did that whole operation. Now I am renting it, waiting and packing. Ah, what nice ones...Child one arrived home for a visit and next morning asked me to come down to look at *wonderfulfriend*s truck....but AHA! It was a ploy! There stood child two. I was thinking about my father last night after I read child one's journal. He is dead now, and much of his impact on me has faded, but the residual damage has accomplished my alienation from men and relationships with them...except for my sons. If I'd had my first child when I was 18, and she'd had her first at 18, then my grandchild would be 19, which is the age of my oldest now. That seems to make sense, since sometimes I feel like my childrens' grandparent: more tolerant, less competitive than a "normal" parent.
