To each her own. I wrote my first piece of original fiction (over 100,000 words) by hand, then entered it into the computer. Around then I realized my hand cramps up too badly (I don't hold the pen right) and I started typing up stories, then printing them out to edit. I hated using all that paper, though, so eventually I learned to do the whole writing process without ever printing out a single page. I type and edit on the computer entirely now. It works better for me personally.

That being said... there are plenty of people who find they DO like to handwrite everything. So if that works for you, by all means go for it. It's slower, but if the words sound better to you, then maybe you need to write that way. Whatever works:-).

That's awesome, BT! I'm glad you finally found your way back to doing what you love so much. Who knew it was the computer that was getting in the way? But I can understand how handwriting really works well for some people. Maybe it's just a more natural, organic way of writing. But whatever it is, I'm glad it works for you! *huggles*

I have to agree with Elly, here. I'm a computer writer myself. Too often, I'll write, edit, rewrite and proof all at the same time while working on one update. If I were handwriting it, I'd lose the whole flow of the story. I think the whole thing for writing, honestly, Angie is that you do what it takes to find your zone. The sound of the keys as I type is kind of a help for me...I'm very sound oriented, so the rhythm is really a bonus. I do write out notes,and I have a notebook with me all the time. (That's just a habit from STILL being in school, though. hee!)

For personal journaling, though? As much as I love LJ, I still keep a handwritten journal. That's for me and only me - helps me get my mind clear and focused when I need to. Also, correspondence. I love e-mail and IM, but a handwritten letter is special.

That's what works for me, and it's awesome that you've found what works for you! Ultimately, when your muse is happy, computer or paper and pen, your writing and you are happy too.

Oh, one more thing...I've written notebooks of poetry through the years. Those never are composed on the computer. EVER. ;)

Don't discount your work before you made this epiphany, either, Angie. Evolution is expected in creativity.

I llove handwriting, it feels so natural... I'm glad you feel it that way.
Maybe you think you haven't written with your heart this couple of years but i really like reading your stuffs anyway!

I guess is to each their own, I can't really write a lot in handwriting 'cause my fingers always start to hurt, this was a big problem with me with written exams, but I can do it in the pc without troubles.
Also I have to admit that my short poetry is all handwritten first, but they are short.
I'm happy to know you found something that can help you write in a beter way for you :D, remember.. there are several SMV fanfics not finished 'cause of your block ;).
