I too experienced letting one (or two) i loved go when he/they chose self destruction....When someone commits fully to destruction
and you are able to love and say "yes, i love you, but , i wont allow that in my life as it is sickening....let me know when you change that..."
it's a clear sign of self love.

it was hard letting go anyone in this way-i still miss him deeply-and it's been years
but-i know i had to leave
i would have drowned as well if i stayed
i agree about self love that in turn is about giving
that is the strength of it all
