To be honest, I'm surprised Niou hasn't weaseled more details out of Sakaki... and Sanada should know better - he's seen the old pictures of them together (I'm also surprised he hasn't shown Niou).

lol Niou did say they were together or something. He just doesn't get their relationship... well current relationship. He gets that they had something in the past and Sakaki was an ass and messed it up.

At least Niou's and Sanada's opinions on Atobe aren't the same as Tezuka's (and possibly Fuji's? Hard to call with him)
