sort of a sazerac

the Sazerac is the official drink of Louisiana and is thought to be the oldest American cocktail. in fact, its thought to be the origin of the word "cocktail" since it was apparently originally served in a coquetier which is an egg cup. they were made with cognac originally, and then it switched to rye whiskey. i decided to get creative and combine ( Read more... )

That looks frigging scrumptious.

Tonight I had 360 chocolate vodka, diet pepsi, and cream. It was awesome. I am not usually up for flavored vodka, yet the 360 stood and delivered (and has a nice f'ing stoppered bottle for ease of use.

What is a simple syrup, exactly?

simple syrup is just a mix of sugar and water that you boil until the sugar fully dissolves. about a 1:1 or 1:2 mix, depending on how sweet you want it. its a common bar accessory and can also be used in baking for dessert toppings and such, along with using it to rehydrate dried fruits, like i did with the cherries.
