the Sazerac is the official drink of Louisiana and is thought to be the oldest American cocktail. in fact, its thought to be the origin of the word "cocktail" since it was apparently originally served in a coquetier which is an egg cup. they were made with cognac originally, and then it switched to rye whiskey. i decided to get creative and combine the two:
i lose many style pts. for this for not having any absinthe in the house, but this drink turned out nice:
Sorta Sazerac
60ml Sazerac rye whiskey
30ml cognac
10-15ml Gran Classico
1 T simple syrup
lemon wedge for garnish
stir up the liquors with the syrup, serve in chilled glass with lemon. pretty damn tasty, actually.
the bar will definitely be open tuesday afternoon.
