Yes, I agree it would be really sad if elder people would turn to this law only because they are depressed- however, at least here in Holland there's no doctor whatsoever who will agree to perform euthanasia on a such a person. It's not even allowed- that would fall under assisted suicide and is illegal! I don't know the details about the Canadian bill of course, but I can hardly believe it's okay over there to end someone's life just because they're depressed.

I am NOT against people choosing to die if they are in an irreversible, painful sickness and do not want to go on in pain. People should be allowed to chose whether they want to die or not. I find it hard to believe that hospitals would do this without their permission, it sounds like whoever spread the word about this in your church was trying to twist things, just like some people like to twist facts about abortion to scare people into being pro-life. =\

Everybody has beliefs and own morales, so I am glad that you said what you believe is right. Again, I didn't mean to sound offensive in any way, and if I did, I'm sorry about that. And yes if Bill C 384 is passed, then people will have that choice, and so will the hospitals. I don't believe doctors would simply kill patients because of this law, it's just with this bill, they can have the choice to do so, if they think it is for the best. I don't think anyone spread this in my church, it's in the news, "Bill C-384, a Private Members's Bill was introduced by Francine Lalonde (Bloc Quebecois) on May 13, 2009"-- this is information is from a website, so the source is directly from the government.
I simply believe in pro-life, and I stand in my belief....
