Gen: John and Jean, with references to Charles/Erik and Erik/John

Extremely belatedly, this one is for kynical who I've owed a Ficathon story to for months and months. She writes the best older John, and I love him dearly, so here is my older John for her, twenty years gone by. This goes in the same continuity as my other X Men fic, ( Read more... )

OMG I love this! I always adore your John. I particularly love this John. I could see him this way 20 years, and a war down the road.

"It's never over," I said. "Better. A different time that calls for different methods. I'm willing to do what works. Peace, if it works. Until the next time."

Pragmatic!John is wonderful! I love the comparisons and contrasts you make between John and Jean and Erik and Charles. Love all the little visual details about the curtains and cabinets you added. Yes, it really is a new time.

But it's not the end. It's the beginning. I am forty. The next forty years are our time.

God that's so good.

If you can't tell I abso-freaking-lutely adored this.

I'm so glad you like it! With one thing and another I'm very very late finishing it, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

A new time. A new beginning. Only Erik and Charles would both be egotistical to see their deaths as the end of the story!

But of course it's not. "The great stories never end. Only the people in them come, and go when their part's finished."

Oh, this was lovely. I never would have imagined Pyro and Jean talking, but...it works.

Beautiful fic!

Wandered over here through a link from a friends-list buddy doing a challenge, and this is good. It's nice to have a John who isn't a punk, isn't necessarily in love with Marie, isn't necessarily in love with Bobby, and who has come out of the idealism and disillusionment of youth and war (which often go hand in hand) better, instead of worse.

I'm glad you like it! I like this older!John, and I think a time with the Brotherhood isn't necessarily bad for him.
