So much freaking love. Seriously.

I will sit down and read Adel's commentary of your log together, and then I will countercommentary on this one.

I couldn't believe I had to split it over two entries! Just like your porch commentary - craziness. It wasn't that long a log, and I didn't ramble that much....

Except I kinda did, and I'm so glad you liked it. Huzzah, countercommentary! Big heart.

My God, how I love this commentary. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. I mean, like, damn.

Four hours later, into the wee hours of the morning, I felt like I'd finally gotten somewhere with my character.

It was a rollercoaster of a scene, wasn't it? We seem to have a knack for those kinds with these two characters. I don't remember any character pair we've ever had that's been quite this intense. Definitely one for the hall of fame.

My profound, humble thanks to Rossi's player for giving me that space in which to work, and for the support and trust with it.

Are you kidding? It's a freaking privilege.

The Brown Leather Coat of Justice! Rossi is a fallen angel, a tarnished Lucifer - Light-bringer, Light-bearer. He lost his faith, while Leah's only slipped away through the cracked vessel of cynical adulthood.

Do you know, the whole loss of faith thing is so fundamental to a lot about Rossi, and I still don't have a story for it. If he'd tell anybody, I think it'd be to Leah, because he sure as fuck isn't telling me. He and I will ( ... )

J'delan/Etain would have been, if it hadn't been, you know, Pern. This dynamic is much better!

If we manage to negotiate a detente, will you play the scene with me?

Need you ask? In a heartbeat. A teeny tiny fraction of a heartbeat. A milli-heartbeat!

I thought you liked whippet, but I couldn't quite pin it down. Hurray.

He can't quite say it, but this is by way of trying to let actions speak louder than words. Little gestures. He really is trying, but oh, he just doesn't have it in him to do it right.

I know that, but I don't think my character does. She needs more from him, as I always say, than he's able to give. Has that stubborn kink in her brain about it: I said those three little words, so what's his problem?

I rag on myself a bit over that, but I was focusing more on Leah's psychology and the characters' interaction than stagecraft. I give myself a pass for not keeping up with magnificence. We were probably coming at the scene from different angles, on different levels, and it isn't as if I sucked in the rp.

Dude. Not even. This was a fantastic RP. And the psychology was the important stuff, and the character interaction; like you're always telling me, concentrate on the important stuff. I'm way too easily distracted. Dude. You're my lodestone!

"Italian heat" . . .

Laughed myself sick. Sick. Damn you.

("It's just a backpack! Do I look that feeble to you, Rossi? Fuck you. But if you want to be carrying around my tampons in your manly hands, hey, go for it," etc.) that might have ensued in happier times. It's the argument that Rossi's used to, seeing her at strength to match his strength -- even if that's not the case, much of the time. I think that this is informs so much of his interactions and responses to her need, later on. Not to ( ... )

Not to mention the fact that he's borderline abusive. Behavior he learned from his loving brothers -- well, more on that later.

I love that. I mean, obviously I don't, but I love that you play it with him, that it makes sense from his background, that he's flawed that way. He's not a knight in shining armor. He's dark and angry and human. Wonderful Rossi. Wonderful Rossi-player.

I sat there and considered whether to use Jean's actual name so casually, because Rossi had never admitted his association with them to her before. He was sharing with Leah, in a backhanded, dumbass sort of way.

I did catch it! Leah did not, not in that sharing way. Because ew, mutants, and hey, jealousy of Jean.

I melted at that pose. It's so beautifully mortal. I would kill to be able to write like you. Well. Okay. Maybe not kill. Maim, certainly.

Aw, thanks. (I think.) I draw from my own experience (too much, I know) and from people-watching! I love to people-watch in public and then steal what I see for rp.

Also, I knew Rossi was abusive, at least ( ... )
