Our gardens sucked too for the same reason. I did everything "right" with the containers but I didn't drag them out into the absolute sunniest spot of our yard since that's smack dab in the middle of our front yard (which is tiny). Next year, I'm going to put veggies in our flower beds (where the sun is). I'll probably figure out how to work some of the containers into the design too -- but it'll be a mix of flowers and veggies.

We had the same situation.... not much production. Pitiful tomato harvest.
