i think the internet is a really complicated thing. basically as you said, it has it's advantages and disadvantages, which i think both reach out in an extreme way. without it i would probably be in the dark on tons of wonderful things. then again i think most people would. but at the same time, if a person really wants to dig into the deepest trenches of information online, it's not hard to find. i mean i'm sure you could agree that the internet is equally full of great and yet horrific things

It is an awful lot like television in the way that it is mindless (at times) entertainment, except with the internet, you sort of have to work for it ahha

I would say perhaps the people who let themselves become consumed by electronic communication have a reason for it. Social anxiety could be a factor, but also some people are just better at expressing themselves through the written word. Some things come out much easier on paper or on a screen than they would if you let all your thoughts spew out without having time to really think them through. Though I suppose one could argue using your first instincts may be a purer form of communicating -- or more human, at least

Internet, as you put it, is a little bit like life: you must know how to use the resources, or you might get yourself in trouble.

For sure there are wierd, paranoid, obssessive people, with the most bizarre tastes and wishes. You usually realize who they are, don't you? You look for what you like, what appeals to you.

and the internet has that amazing thing of showing off with nothing to show. speak a lot when you have nothing to say, or maybe you do and nobody listens. tons of information running,yada yada yada.

and there's also a double blade - you can answer when you wish, as you wish, or as the perfect question. If not happy with result, then just erase it. It's too damn easy....
